Yup. It happened. Although it was hard to separate the smells of cow dung and fine French cheese, it went down. The place is called Ferme de la Charbonniere and basically it is floating above a barn where all the cows that the cheese comes from live. It was so good too. My cousins and I shared the fondu and a bunch of sliced meets and of course had more cheese for desert.

This was all followed by a trip up to the snow line, an after lunch trek through it, and a nutella crepe with tea. Perfect.

Oh, and I can’t leave out the impromptu accordion session at the cafe where we recuperated after our trek:

After 10 years my cousin Stan still looks exactly thr same except for his smile which might have gotten bigger. He picked me up at the Geneve airport in Switzerland and we drove back across the border into France. He had just been celebrating the completion of his first year of work with his boss and was very excited about it (and the expensive wine they drank).

A quick tour if Annecy — mostly the result of a wrong turn and a detour — ended with a bottle of champagne to celebrate our reunion. He calls me Mr. Id as a result of my character name in GTA2 that I used to slaughter him with. We had some firece battles back in the day.

He lives in a nice little apartment about a block from the lac (thats lake in French). Next we went with one if his friends to dinner at a restaurant called La Freti: fondu to the max (I know, I should write restaurant slogans). I was prepared with my lactaid pills and we began. Our waiter brought a heating device which youll have to watch the video below to understand. I also got my own caserol dish full of potatoes and hot melte cheese. It was quite an introductory Fremch meal. The whole time they would say, this is very French. So I ate of course. So much cheese and I lived to tell about it because the quality of the cheese is so high (-Stan) it gave me no problems. I have to say, it was delicious. I just cant believe that my cousin and his friend almost finish a block of cheese half the size of a basketball and weighing in at an estimated 100,000 calories. Im gonna have to step up my game if Im going to keep up Mr. Ids reputation.
